Creating Your Oasis of Peace

These are challenging times.

Every day our news and social media channels highlight the disruptions and turmoil unfolding around the world.

So what can we do when faced with unsettling circumstances and events – especially those that adversely affect us on a personal level, or simply break our hearts? Regardless of what is happening, we can make the choice to stay grounded within ourselves so we can consciously create our own oasis of peace and navigate these transformational times with more ease and grace.

Here are four key steps to help you live your life from an oasis of peace. These steps can help calm your mind and open your heart so you can be more grounded in your true nature. 

✨ Seek to determine what is really true. As the saying goes, not everything you read or watch is true. The internet and news media are filled with opinion pieces that are not necessarily balanced or fact-based. 

Avoid getting swept into the drama of false narratives by asking yourself some key questions. How reliable are the news venues you are using? Can you validate the information you are receiving by referencing multiple sources? If you feel an article or video is trying to rile you up, it likely is. Who stands to gain or benefit if you believe what you are reading or watching? 

✨ Focus on what is in front of you and what you can control. There are so many things happening both locally and around the world that we want to see changed that we sometimes feel like we don’t know where to begin. 

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of it all, here are two considerations to help return you to a greater state of peace. What is being asked of you in your life right now? Give that your full attention – the task at hand, the conversation you are engaged in, the meditation you are practising. At the same time, remember that we cannot control the circumstances and events that unfold in our lives. We can only control how we respond to them. If you feel that your thoughts or emotions are going into a spiral, pause and then get back to focusing your attention on the present moment.

✨ Follow your Joy. Spend time engaging in things that foster a sense of Joy. These activities can help calm your mind and bolster your spirit. Joy represents the cornerstone of your oasis of peace. When was the last time you engaged in an activity that nourished you? A bubble bath? A long walk in nature? A good book? 

While we typically know that self-care is important, we don’t always make the time for it. Yet self-care can help us maintain – or re-enter – a state of peace and well-being.

✨ Allow in the Love. The angelic realms and other beings of light Love you beyond measure. Their love is ever-present and unconditional. Consciously opening to this Divine Love and allowing it in is the most powerful step you can take on your path to achieving a state of enduring peace.
